Mistie’s Must-Reads

Besides the Harry Potter and Outlander series, which, let’s be honest, do not need my help selling books,
these are my three most favorite reads:

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein

This book has everything I love: dogs and great writing with humor and heart. I’m not going to lie, you will ugly cry, but you will also feel your heart swell at every turn as Enzo the dogs narrates his story. I LOVE this book!

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

THIS BOOK! Written from the POV of Death (hardworking during WWII) the story tells the account of a young German orphan named, Liesel. This book has it all: beautiful writing, an engaging story, and characters that you grow to love. It’s probably the most beautifully written book I’ve ever read.

Hillbilly Elegy by J. D. Vance

A memoir, written by J.D Vance. Vance, a former marine and Yale Law School graduate, hopes to shed light on the cycle of poverty and addiction that plagues his childhood home in Southwestern Ohio. Vance’s story is insightful and poignant. This is a book that makes you think about education and the cycle of poverty in a different light.
